I was poking around and ran across this page which contains the words: I haven't seen or heard anyone else pointing to this which Toyota put out the first week of August. Now, to me "full project launch" says that this is the date for the launch of the Plug-In. Maybe I'm reading too much into this, but I would guess this is the date for opening the 96 hour ordering window for those who have signed up to buy the Prius Plug-in. Then again, maybe this is just for the art project and not the Prius Plug-in.
Donlen.com just changed the initial order date for Prius PHV Plug-In from 10 October to 1 November. See Link. Some people here on PriusChat have said that Donlen's dates only apply to fleet purchases. I don't know that this date only applies to fleet. At least it is a date to shoot for. For me, it is better than no date.
I think Spwolf commented on this before. I don't think it is for this special PIP order. For example, the Prius v delivery is listed for: Feb/Mar 12 delivery, but the v will be in showroom next week!
I actually thought this dealer inadvertently gave the date away, but Sept. 27 did not make it. Toyota Prius Plug-In Priority Registration | Prius Plug-In Early Registration Available Now at Acton Toyota of Littleton
Maybe they were originally told the 27th of September but they were 'supposed' to keep it quiet. Then something happened to the site/ordering system and the date had to change. Hence why they are told to not release info until they are allowed to do so because tentative dates may get released to the public before everything is worked out...
