My new Optimia Yellow Top came today. It was left on the side with the arrows pointing sideways and not up. I have 4 MP high surveillance and one of the cameras clearly recorded the delivery van and showed the box also on it's side when the rear door of the van was opened, so it wasn't just the brief time it was in my breezeway.

Aren't the Optimas a spiral gel-cell design and if so would it be ok for them to be on their side. I'm assuming so, but the arrows saying to stay up would seem to indicate otherwise.

Should I contact elearnaid first and see if the battery should be exchanged?

I dont think Optima batteries are so sensitive. If so, they should have some indication of the inproper handling. IMHO, it is just a safety measure for the transportation.

whether it affects the optima or not, that is just unacceptable of the carrier, most things in the world probably aren't built as well as an optima.

Completely spill-proof, mountable in many positions

I would infer that you don't need to worry.

Sounds like batt OK but you might advise elearnaid for their info. Mine was packed so well with foam inserts etc it would not budge. Kept some of the foam, use it under my jack to protect floor.

You should be fine. The battery is gel based so think of it like Jello but harder. As long as your battery terminals aren't damaged, your good to go.

Both mine came the same way and worked fine. They are packed securely.

sorka, I'm sorry to hear your shipper did not transport the battery as indicated by the instructions on the box. However, as others have indicated, your battery should be just fine. Our batteries can be mounted in a variety of orientations (although we do not recommend mounting them upside down) and many of our batteries spend their entire existence mounted on their side.
