Operating Tips For Low Mileage Driver?

    Not sure if I brought up this subject earlier. I'm a retired, low-mileage driver. Are there any operating tips you can provide, or information I should know about my Prius in order to keep it in (hopefully) semi-peak condition?

    Most years, I may only average about 5,500 miles driven, or less. (3 spine surgeries, fusions, nerve damage, constant pain, etc, prevent me from driving/traveling as much as I'd like. My 11 yr old Camry only had 49,500 miles on it when I traded it in. But I usually don't keep a car more than 10 years.) Thanks!

    I would think as long as you start it up or take it for a small spin around the block every couple weeks or so it should be fine.

    How many miles do you have on your new Prius now? Seems you have been driving and enjoying it quite a bit judging by your posts. :D:cool:

    5-1/2 months, and a little over 4,000 miles? Driving more than normal, just short trips around town getting it broke in. I usually don't drive nearly that much and my back is paying the price. I'm down for the count again. There will be many times when I can't sit or drive for 2-week stretches. I hope the hybrid battery will not be damaged from being idle?

    Sorry to hear of your back issues. Hope you heal up and get back to cruisin sooner than later...!!

    About the car sitting idle, I think it will be just fine.

    the only consideration is the 12v, and toyota made a major change for gen 4. i wouldn't worry about it, you should be fine. feel better!(y)

    I left my gen 2 sitting in my garage for 5 days this week. When I parked it, the battery was one bar from the top. When I started it today, it was at two purple bars.o_O My battery drains when I don't use it. This is an 11 year old car, so our gen 4's probably won't have a problem for a while.;)
