Cold morning but in the garage, so not frightfully cold. Teens in the garage?

Went to start, and the whole car shook. My reaction was to push on the gas pedal (old habits die hard) and in a second or less it smoothed out. It seemed to have more to do with the start cycle than the actual engine running.

    Any thoughts?

Has not repeated in the last day since then.

this generally happens when the previous time the car was started, it was shut down fairly quickly, like moving it around the yard or something. i think it's unburned fuel in the manifold.

That is consistent. I moved the car from the driveway to the garage (20 ft) the night before. (after finishing a marathon timing belt replacement with water pump and CV reboot on my wife's Subaru XT outback. Then the next morning my car does that... I wasn't in the mood for more car work!)

    Thanks, that's comforting!
