I purchased the BT stiffening plate from this site. What a mistake! For one it helped nothing. Two, I had problems with my suspension and when I went ot have the dealership service department fix it they said the aftermarket stiffening plate I've installed voids the warranty on the suspension.
As you can imagine I am very and I mean VERY MAD.
I've contacted the sites administrators and I sure hope they agree to a refund and covering my costs for the suspension work ($854.18 with tax).

Edited title to properly reflect the discussion -Danny

What, exactly, did the dealership say that the BT Tech plate did to cause your suspension problems? I'm sorry, but my BS detector is going off on this one.

Hmmm, first post, just subscribed today, completely non-sense sounding claim.

what screen name were you using when you purchased the BT plate? Can you show us a scan of the reciept for your non-warranty suspension work?

Or maybe a photo of the bridge you live under. Sorry, but this has troll written ALL over it.

    Sorry for the double post.

They said nothing about it causing the issue. They said an aftermarket stiffening plate voids the warranty because it's not Toyota approved. Basically anything that isn't Toyota OEM part voids the warranty is my understanding. I'm screwed unless this site mans up and does the right thing.
Has this happened to anyone else?

And I resent the Moderator's implications.

I have to go to work now. I'll be back tonight. Hopefully the issue will be resolved by then.

More to the point, what suspension problems are being claimed? I was not aware that the BT plate attaches to any suspension parts - just chassis rails.

Also, you might consider posting in the original BT plate thread in the Modifications forum as more people will see the post and may reply.

OP should familiarize himself with the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, unless as many suspect, he is a TROLL.

Anyone familiar with Magnuson-Moss would know the first post in this thread is just a load of crap.

You may resent my implications, but you didn't address the questions.
If you're real then you need only tell Toyota that you're aware of the
    Magnuson-Moss Act

and that you intend to file a claim against them for not covering the warranty repair unless they prove the stiffening plate caused the problem.

Your "problem" won't be resolved when you get back, we don't do that, you have to take care of that yourself, through your dealer, maybe your lawyer.

I'll keep an eye out for the other screen name you used to order the part with and the scan of the receipt....and I'll hold my breath until those show up.

Don't know about the troll part; but personally, I wouldn't go around threatening a manufacturer with calling the Feds down on them for a violation of M-M. M-M is not like the CA Lemon Law, where the manufacturer has to pay the consumer's legal fees. Everything you do to compel Toyota to comply with M-M will be on your dime.

I don't own a BT plate, but I can't believe it would cause such problems, unless it was installed improperly.

I still have my OEM plate. If for any reason I had to take my Prius in for some suspension work, I'd just switch it out with my BT plate. Then when the work was done (under warranty) I'd put the BT plate back.

    Duh.

And yes, I think this screams three billy goats gruff.

Yup, you just go on to work now... we'll resolve your issue here for you.
    You bet. Yup. Uh huh.

Oh, and the decals I got from the Accessory store? Yeah, they voided my warranty. Oh, and the sharkfin antenna... yeah, voided my warranty. I used a Bosch oil filter, instead of a Toyota OEM filter. Voided warranty.

If the problem isn't with you, and I'll give you the benefit of the doubt for now, then it is with your dealership.

Try talking to another dealer, or contact Toyota.

Please provide me with your name so I can confirm that we actually sent you a BT Tech plate. We have a great number of plates out there with absolutely none of the issues that you allegedly claim you have. Since out plate does not directly attach to either the front or rear suspension, there is no way that Toyota could claim the things you say. In other words, I feel this thread is entirely meant to stir up trouble and I smell a troll....

Oh, hey, and while you are at it, since you obviously don't WANT your BT plate... ship it to me, okay? I'll take it off your hands for you, at no additional charge!

t.b., if you're serious, this is nothing more than ill-informed
dealership bullying and you should immediately escalate. Exactly
what suspension "problem" did you have, and how did the dealership
    draw any sort of relationship?
