Ya know, ignoring the subject of the article for a minute, I just want to say that guy is a really shitty writer. He just throws out a whole bunch of crap about various things he doesn't like, but doesn't really provide any evidence to support his position.

I think the point of his article is that the subsidy for hybrids is unfair, but his argument is not coherent.

At least he states his bias right up front.

IsrAmeriPrius, is the text you quoted what was originally in the story? If so, that guy's a bigger moron than the rest of the people citing the widely discredited CNW "study". Pacific Institute, based out of California, is actually one of the principle critics of the scientific validity of CNW's report.

If he's citing the Pacific Institute accidentially, it probably means he was exposed to the rock solid refutation of the CNW conclusions, but ignored the facts. Basing your opinion on conjecture because you haven't seen any conflicting data is one thing, but having the information available and ignoring the facts is unforgivable for anyone in journalism.

I'm not sure if the original article has been updated since IsrAmeriPrius read it, or if IsrAmeriPrius mis-quoted accidentally, but currently that portion of the article is written as follows:

So the original article is quoting the widely discredited CNW "study"

Yes, that's original text. You should read the whole damn thing. Rambling, disjointed, festering ignorance. I particularly like how he bashes the Prius for lack of head room, then turns around and advocates the Yaris or the Echo. Huh?

And that freaking CNW study just won't DIE.

He's probably pissed his favourite car isn't on the list (or is being taxed by our $4,000 fuel penalty for gas guzzlers.. that's separate from the gas guzzler tax btw).

He fits in a Yaris but not in a Prius... brilliant! (Granted, the Yaris probably does have more headroom). But it is buzzy at higher speeds (80km/h was the max I took it when I had it for a week).

It was updated at some point because it originally read "Pacific Institute".

I actually tried to sit in a couple of different Yaris (Yarises?), both the sedan and hatchback. They have less headroom than a Prius.

I stopped reading the article here because the guy has obviously never been in a prius or is freakishly tall. The reason my good friend bought the prius over the civic is because he didnt fit in a civic. My friend is 6'7" and probalby 250.

I copied and pasted the opening sentence and the closing paragraphs of the article without any editing or modification. The piece has been edited since I quoted it this morning. Must have been in reaction to being called ignoramus.

The front seat has wads of front headroom but the back is a little lacking. The Prius is no orphin there.
