Ok, NOW the 2008 Toyota Prius site is up!

Is this new to 2008? "The Prius boasts an EPA-estimated combined city/highway rating of 46 miles per gallon"

Nice to see the EPA has re-evaluated using more accurate methods. My 2005 was quoted at 51 MPG combined, but over something like 20,000 miles, my lifetime mileage is right at 46-something!

Nope. Model year '09, which should come out around a year from now.

Here is an Edmunds article explaining the lower MPG ratings. You'll see these lower (more realistic) ratings on all '08 models.

 

Not to get off topic but 47 mpg is great when you figure in winter driving into the mix. We get an average of around 52 mpg all late spring summer and fall and 42 during the winter. I like the blue.

 

Hi. I just took delivery of a Classic Silver 2008 package 2. Can't tell much of any difference with the 2007s. $500 over invoice at a local dealer. The Dealer thought that the arm rests and the rear tail light might be a bit different.

Thank you for posting that Edmunds link. The new EPA for the Prius is now (or going to be) 48 city, 46 highway? That seems too low! I remember my first tank with the car I got 51 MPG and I was still learning to drive the car and with the A/C on all the time! I admit I may have an advantage living in flat land Florida with warmer temps, but I truly feel 48 city MPG for any Prius driver is below average of what the car can perform unless there are certain terrain effecting circumstances. Now that I have 10,000 miles on my car and past the breaking in point, I think I would have to go out of my way to get a high 40's tank which would include jack rabbit starts and general idiot driving. Am I wrong in thinking that the new EPA figures are too low?

What a great color! I went to the dealer today, and the salesman didn't know about the new color. He said they will get 2008's toward the end of the month. The only info they had about 2008 were the prices (no brochure).

 

I have just checked the Toyota.com site and there is NO spectra blue shown, for either Prius or Touring for my ZIP. Does this mean that Southern California will not get this color? that does not sound reasonable!

I don't think they are too low given they probably tested with a driver that drove like most lead-foots. It's safe to say that a majority Prii drivers can boast that they get higher than sticker! :lol:

You may be right, not to mention the new EPA estimated mileage includes a quick start to a speed I rarely travel in my car due to wind resistance and always wanting the best FE. If I go over 60 MPH in my car, it's very rare!

The idea is that the new EPA mileage ratings should be what an average driver gets. The old EPA ratings were more of a "best possible" number (yes, I know some people did beat the old EPA numbers, but it wasn't common).

GreenHybrid.com's average MPG for the Prius is 46.7 MPG, very close to the EPA numbers.
