Has anyone heard of Beck Arnley oil filers that are on ebay. The cost is low at around $4 each including shipping. The part number is #041-8066. The dealer did the first oil change, and I'm getting ready to do the 10,000 change. Also, any recommendations on what brand of oil to use from the Prius pro's?

Never heard of that brand. If price is an issue, you can order Toyota filters from www.metrotpn.com for $4 apiece, I believe. I think shipping is extra, but they throw in the oil plug washer. Many dealers charge extra for it.

Based on the advice of many here and in similar forums, I put synthetic oil in on my first oil change. I use Mobil One, though others have spoken well of Amsoil.

Thanks. I did check with the dealer, and the Prius filter is $7 plus $1 for the washer. The price at Metrotpn was $4 with washer plus $2 each for shipping if you bought 5 at a time. I did find some information on a websearch that some of you may enjoy. Here's a couple of paragraphs:

That's only a savings of $2 per filter. Check around on ebay and you might be able to find them for much less (but you'll probably have to buy ten at one time).

I got a case from Toyota of Dallas for $39.90 (less than $4 each) with free shipping (but that price didn't include any crush washers, either). Some don't feel it's necesary to change the crush washer on every oil change and save the expense by changing them at greater intervals.

Also consider getting the longer YZZF1 instead of the short OEM YZZF2. It's the same price but holds a bit more oil and the greater length makes it a bit easier to get to:

I replace with nothing but OEM filter and crush washer every time I change the oil & filter. Very cheap insurance.
