    Hi Prius Owners:

I just picked up my new Prius this week. I have owned many Toyotas in the past and have had great success with the brand. With other models, I have had oil changes done at places like Carx and similar. They are a bit cheaper and more convenient for me. Is there a reason to have the oil changed on a Prius by the dealer, or can it be done elsewhere? I'm sure the dealer would say only use the dealer, but that is what I would expect. What do others do?

    Thanks
    Eric

I purchase Mobil 1 by the case and filters and change my own oil. In my experience dealers tend to overfill the oil. Changing your own oil is simple and quick. Just be sure to recycle the oil.

Just like any other car, you can do it yourself or take it to any shop to do.

just bought ours about a month ago , but have checked prices already and on the local toyota dealer web page found oil/lube filter coupon with no exp.date for $19.00

I will go to the dealer and have printed out about 4 coupons for later use.
so you might want to check the dealer web page under parts/service specials
