Oil Catch Can placement?

    I notice that the placement that the nutsandbolts yt video on the driver side between the inverter and fuse box isn't lower than the outlet coming out of the pcv valve. Is that going to be an issue? Also does it matter if I have an extra 1-2' of hose with some of it looped?

    Also the pcv is a 3/8 and the manifold is a 3/4. Is there a reason why we can't just use the old short hose and disconnect the pcv valve end and insert a 3/8 to 3/8 barbed connector to connect the pcv valve end to the hose going back to the catch can? Do you need a wider hose like the 1/2 inch one he uses?

    Would it also not make sense to go from a 3/4 hose from the manifold and connect it directly to the catch can? Is it because 3/4 hoses are super thick and unbendy and also because I haven't seen any 3/4 barb to 1/4 npt (looks like the cheap catch cans are 1/4 size screw ins) adaptors in existence?

    After install, how many miles would you wait before cleaning the egr circuit again?

    Not really. Up high is good for access too. Not so good if you have smog inspection. Even though properly installed is an improvement, it’s a mod, so they won’t like it.

    FWIW I mounted mine below intake manifold, a little tricky, and easy access only from below.

    for your plumbing questions , this is what I’m doing, and it’s the recommended method in the OCC thread linked in my signature (on a phone turn it landscape to see sig). clamps are not needed with barb connectors btw. Note the original hose, just cut at middle, 3/8” barb connectors added:

    Has the amount of oil been excessive enough that would warrant two cans? Are you still doing egr circuit cleaning even after 2 cans? Are you bolting these on somewhere?

    I had 2 cans (long story), so I thought why not. The second one acts like a scavenge: tends to have little in the fall, and more than the first in spring, albeit much more water.

    you still will have carbon build up, so yeah EGR cleaning is still good to do.

    I have a slotted angle bracket mounted atop lower/front cross beam, with some rubber in the interface so beam is free to flex (it’s front jacking point). The cans bolt to upstanding slotted angle leg, and I’ve made slots in the slots, so for removal I just need to loosen their bolts and lift them up and off.
