Currently only found on the HS and LX570 Lexus models, the wide view monitor is an available Prius accessory in Japan.

It's useful when coming out of narrow streets or intersections that are obscured by roadside objects just as trees and hedges. It can be programmed to automatically engage below 10km/h and disengage above 12km/h. There's also a manual switch.

Lastly, it can be combined with the side view monitor mounted under the side mirrors, great for those that keep hitting the curb when pulling in.

I know! It can be useful. The question is that the cars get smaller, the closer to the edge of the camera they are (i.e. farther away). So is this useful for roads with lower speed limits? Otherwise, you may not see a car but by the time you come out, they will be already at your junction.
