Was at a friend house tonight and he wanted to see under the hood of my Prius v.
I popped the hood and he looked around and I shut the hood.
Left, got on the Interstate and notice my mpg going up....46.6...... 46.9..... and thought that was odd as I usually get 42 43.....
Stopped at Starbucks and noticed that my hood wasn't shut tight....the safety latch was on....
Closed the hood tight left and mpg went back to normal.....
Has this happened to anyone else.....

More forced air cooling, reduced need for electric cooling and A/C fans? But I wouldn’t drive it that way.

That is interesting! But Air_Boss is right regarding not to drive that way... I am sure the latch is pretty secure half open like that but you do not want to risk it. It is interesting how that little bit of cool air will make such a difference.
    Interesting post!
