Good morning, I'm trying to run DrPrius tests on a new to me '15 Prius. My problem is neither the panlong nor my old OBDLink LX will stay connected to my pixel 3a xl. They both pair perfectly, but 2 seconds after pairing they drop down to the previously connected devices list. Trying the connect button does nothing. I can forget and re-pair, but the same thing happens. My phone connects to the car and my earbuds perfectly. I've restarted my phone and tried updating relevant apps. I could update to Android 11, but I doubt that's the problem.

Has anyone else run into something like this, or have suggestions? $5 says it's operator error.

    Thanks!

All I needed to do was tap the obd2 scanner in the Dr Prius app and it connected just fine.

No errors and 70% life left - yay!

Looks like I won another bet

I feel compelled to correct / add to my post (though I don't think this will likely be read / come up in someone else's search)
as Moronical sorted out on his own, though his description of figuring it out didn't extricate me, I also sorted it out.

what I thought was a problem, wasn't really a problem: when I connected to the PanLong OBD2 (one of the adapters recommended at Dr Prius site), it didn't show up in my phone's (android) settings as a connected device. I stubbornly attempted multiple things to make show up in that connected device list - even though the message told me it connected, every other device I ever connected to the phone showed up in that list.

all I had to do was ignore the fact that it wasn't in the list and start using the app.

I have been happily using the app for several weeks now.

now I am on the fence about paying for the 'added features' of the Dr Prius app to find out the % capacity of the battery compared to what it was when it was new. I have been spending way too much time reading this website, and this thread here Is Project Lithium / Nexcell a scam battery? | PriusChat further clouded my thoughts on this

do I pay the money and help out a small business man trying to do some good things in this space?

I do like FOSS which is perhaps why I am leaning away from spending the money on dr prius -- I am looking into the Autel adapter and am probably going to order that, whilst trying to get a used laptop up and running, to try and get tech stream installed. at some point I expect I will be opening a thread my self once I have more info (if the battery gods give me the time to get more info) -- I did have one instance of of a PA006 error.

[the other very early question I have had is whether I ought to be looking at the lithium ion replacement for my NiMH that I suspect is not going to last long - especially without some conditioning - that may take me a while to implement --- that thread is making me lean toward replacing the NiMH like for like (new)

(think I need to post a time or two more so I can add attachments when I do start a thread) .

p.s. proved myself wrong-- I can already post an attachment. this was coming down off the mississippi river bridge - one of the only places that I go down a hill-- this is something else I've only seen once (so far).
