OBD Compatible apps

DashCommand is the only iOS app I've found to be worth anything but its $50 US. Rev wasn't very impressive...

 

It really isn't worth the $50. I am getting an old android from a friend so I can use torque.

It does everything I need and the price is right ($5.99). It has Full custom PID support, Formular support and configurable GUI.

 

Does it support all of the hybrid pids? If so I'm buying it!

I have also pre-ordered one of these guys.

I am unable to get the hybrid SOC with my adapter. I have the one int the link below. I wouldn't recommend buying it from newegg be cause the seller "electree" has horrible customer service. The device works but I can't get any of my prius only info to work. I have a buddy with one of the cheap Chinese knockoff Bluetooth ones that I am going to try to get working.

 

Just checking back in to report that the EngineLink app is by far the best app I have used so far. It allows custom PID's and works perfectly with my Prius. I used the csv at the bottom of this page. Outdoor Apps In The Palm Of Your Hand

Download the zip on your computer. Pull the correct csv file out and place it in the app by copying it into the iTunes sharing folder in iTunes. If you plug your iPhone or iPad into iTunes it's on the app page near the bottom. I replaced the file already in there and everything started working. I'm really surprised by how much data I can get now. Even the pressure being exhibited on the brake pads is displayed. I'm amazed by the features this app has for so much less than DashCommand, and it is a lot easier to use! I will post a guide on how to get this all set up when I get a chance and start a new thread. More Prius owners need to use this!

Bluetooth ones won't work natively with iOS devices but my buddy has this one.

I was able to get it to work with my iPhone with a jailbreak app called roqybt4 and roqyobd4. It's a pain but it does work. He was able to find that adapter for a lot cheaper.

 

I would agree. Although I was able to get it to work it wasn't the ideal experience.

However if you do have android I can't get my wifi one to work with my android phone. I will probably buy a Bluetooth one for that phone.

 

thanks for the head's up. my iphone 4s is jailbroken, but i don't want to deal with more apps than necessary. looks like i'll be getting a wifi scanner.

 

RoqyBT isn't free either. It would save you time and hassle to just get the wifi one. I have this one here but I don't know if it is any better than the one posted above.

it's a little more expensive than the other wifi scanner, but this one is "fulfilled by amazon" which means i get 2 day shipping and it will make returns a lot easier if it turns out to be a busted unit. looking forward to testing out engine link now.
