This made the rounds on one of the Prius Yahoo mailing lists today.

    CNW/Art Spinella should take THAT!

I can't seem to attach the PDF... Did the admins disable attachments for this section? I'll have to repost the PDF in another section.

If you put the high-tech (Bluetec and Honda) Diesels in the chart, they will fall between the Light-Duty Truck 2 and 4.

Bluetec and Honda Accord Diesel are trying to reach 0.5 Grams/Mile NOx emission to be able to sell in the 50 states. We will see the "diesel premium" when Accord diesel arrives. I believe bluetec is out already. Anyone know how much is the "diesel premium"? Note that, diesels only achieve about the same MPG as hybrids but are still part of the polution (not solution).

HSD kills two birds (fuel economy and low emission) with one stone. Has anyone notice the HSD logo looks like a silver bullet?

I printed the PDF and will post it near my work site.

About the only thing cleaner that my Prius is me walking to work, which I did this morning!

    Take care of Mother Earth!

That's really interesting. I thought carpooling in an inefficient car would be less polluting than driving a Prius, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

Apparently you'd have to fit 15 people into an SUV to make it so each one of them pollutes as little as a single person in a Prius.

thats a really interesting article.....Thats weird living in an area that has a real pollution issue, hopefully Colorado gets on the ball before it gets that bad for southern Colorado.

Oh, just come up to Denver and enjoy the brown disk that floats above our quaint hamlet. It's ever so... nasty. <_<

That is indeed a very interesting article. But I see a few flaws and correct me if you wish.

That study should show cars that were were produced before 1987. For example they should include cars and trucks if they wish from like 1960 to mid 1980's and then into our current year? And they should show the output of emissions on those older vehicles also.

Now Also shouldn't the Hummer be rated as a light duty truck since it's technically on a light duty truck frame?

Depends on which Hummer you're talking about. If you're talking about the H1 and H2, they're definitely not considered light trucks because their GVWR is over 8500 lbs.

Yea! see, what a lot of people fail to realize is that it isn't all about splitting up fuel mileage to people. The Prius actually has some amazing emissions components installed on it's exhaust system! It is a wonderful car for the environment. Even if you stripped out the electric motor and regenerative braking, the exhaust system alone is doing a huge part. Add to that little refinements like a thermal tank for engine coolant.. warming the vehicle faster with the pre-heated liquid. That is something they could slap on all vehicles!
