Prius is still doing pretty well according to this.

"Even in these days of topsy-turvy fuel prices, automakers have learned that slapping a hybrid badge on a vehicle doesn't automatically guarantee strong sales..."

"Toyota has plenty of reasons to remain upbeat about hybrids. Not only is the Prius still a hot property, but it accounts for nearly half of the entire market for hybrids.

Prius sales are off slightly through October -- 89,672 sold this year, compared with 90,891 last year. But the Prius makes up a whopping 42.5 percent of the total number of hybrids sold so far, 211,134. Toyota dealers need just six days to sell a Prius, and the transaction price is up from $25,033 last year to $26,098 this year, according to Power..."

I didn't even realize the Saturn hybrid was on sale. I can understand the hybrid Accord sitting around on the dealer's awhile, at least in some cases. Our local dealer had one that was stickered at like $37K. It had some insane wheel and tire package, and other dealer add-ons. Not sure if I was in the market for a car that spendy that a Honda Accord would be one of my choices.

No loss. With an emissions rating of only ULEV, the word "green" shouldn't be associated with this hybrid anyway.

As for sales of Prius, it's interesting how they point out the 1.3% sales difference yet don't provide any prospective with respect to the automotive market here as a whole. Aren't the numbers overall lower this year?

I'm not sure as unfortunately I don't have any good October 06 overall stats other than the image on the right side of http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic.../611020375/1148.

Toyota + Lexus sales were up 12.2% YTD at that point. Here was that sales report for that month http://www.theautochannel.com/news/2006/11/01/027342.html.
