Does anyone know of a nonsteel belted tire for the plug-in Prius? Kevlar is what I have heard is very good and does not emit emf.

EMF? Electromagnetic Fields? Unless you are passing a current through your wheels, no magnetic fields will be generated...

I thought the same.. so I had to google it

But even so, maybe someone smarter than me can explain to me why it would matter?

Yeah. I'm looking for some tinfoil belted ones. Also a tinfoil roof wrap. because you never know. ;)

I believe some BFGoodrich tires have Kevlar belts in them as well.

Here's the question: If you rotate back to front, and then cross the two fronts when moving them to the rears, wouldn't the rotation in the opposite direction "de-EMF" the tires?

So you have a plug-in Prius and are worried about EMF from the tires? Not the battery bank, or the high voltage inverter, or the big motors?

No, you can magnetize ferromagnetic material (iron/steel) by subjecting it to a constant single direction magnetic field, but to demagnetize it you have to subject it to a gradually reducing AC generated (i.e. pole reversing) magnetic field.

That would be less dangerous than a tinfoil hat, because if you wear a tinfoil hat too tight it will cut off your circulation and make you paranoid. :D

Interesting reading. I learned something new.

Considering that low level magnetic fields are harmful after all:

I will try not to drive with my head next to the wheels.
