I have another thread on window tinting and have concluded that there is no film that meets the CA DMV regs for UV protection (must let in 88 VLT and have a certificate from installer that the total VLT is at least 70).

There is a CA law that allows a driver to have:

    (10) Sun screening devices meeting the requirements of Section
26708.2 installed on the side windows on either side of the vehicle's
front seat, if the driver or a passenger in the front seat has in
his or her possession a letter or other document signed by a licensed
physician and surgeon certifying that the person must be shaded from
the sun due to a medical condition, or has in his or her possession
a letter or other document signed by a licensed optometrist
certifying that the person must be shaded from the sun due to a
    visual condition.

Anyone know where one can get one of these devises? Any recommendations? My wife can easily get the letter from her dermatologist due to skin issues.

The factory front side windows already have a 91% UV cut rate. If that's not good enough, I'd install Llumar Air Blue even though it'd technically be illegal (as the factory glass is already tinted 75%). It's light enough that you're almost guaranteed never to get pulled over.

All other windows (except windshield) aren't subject to 70% total VLT. Also keep in mind that the windshield has a 100% UV cut rate.
