I have not performed any service on my 2004 Prius with 78K miles so far beyond an oil change around every 5-6K miles. The only additional thing has been new tires and a couple of rotations. I have changed the cabin and engine air filters once. When I read the manual soon after purchase, it only recommended inspections every now and then. I am planning on waiting till 100K before doing anything if all goes well.

Good idea or looking for trouble?

You should be changing the engine air filter every 30k (also the cabin filter) or sooner depending upon how dirty it is getting. I do my own inspections as called out in the maintenance guide that came with the car. I have also changed the transaxle fluid once although that is not required by the maintenance guide.
