I'm having a weird issue with my Prius that my dealer can't diagnose -- wondering if anyone else has had the same issue? Sometimes when I turn on my car, it has power, but the following 3 things happen:

    - The dash does not light up, so I can't see my speed, gas, etc.
    - The controls in the navigation that prevent you from typing something in while driving are unlocked.
    - The reverse lights and annoying reverse beep don't work

The first time I took it to the dealer, they held the power button down until the car restarted and everything came back to normal. (After several tries.) This last time, I tried holding the button down but it didn't work. As I was driving, about 15 minutes later, the dash automatically came back on and everything was working as intended, as if the issue somehow corrected itself. Any thoughts?

Top of suspicion list when weird stuff starts happening: Check out the 12 V battery.

I agree that the OP's car needs a new combination meter. The combination meter is not reporting vehicle speed.

Hence the nav is unlocked and accepts input. Further, the car is reluctant to shut off because the power source control ECU thinks the car is moving merrily along (to bypass, you need to depress the POWER button at least 3 seconds to turn the car off.)
