2020 XLE Awd, now that toyota took away all the apps in the toyota app, and I have an Android phone but the unit only has apple car play, what are my options? Even though scout gps link was horrible it was at least still be able to be on the screen. I was already ticked off when I found there was no stand alone navigation, and xm radio was removed. I assume there will be no updates to add Android auto and the execs at toyota are sitting back laughing. So the unit is pretty much useless to me since I listen to very very little music.

Besides using a 3rd party screen, do I have any other options besides getting an iphone?

I don't see how any of these would help, they say turn the factory wired android auto connection into a wireless one. I don't have android auto on the head unit, toyota left it out and only put apple play on for some year models. Unless there is a specific box that will add or be able to project my phone on the screen please let me know.

Maybe you missed my post above with the link to Android Auto boxes, all you have to do is pick one you like..

I got a little dongle called "Carlinkit 4.0" for around $40 US from AliExpress. You just plug it into the infotainment system USB port with the included cable. When the car starts up, it first runs the Toyota program but the dongle takes over control and forces connection of AppleCarplay and automatically interfaces into your cellphone. Then the Android Auto maps display and your Android Music player starts up and Your phone starts to work with the car's handsfree controls on the steering wheel. Basically, you get full integration of your Android phone with the car infotainment system. For me, it was totally "plug and play" and was a snap to install.
