Well the Nissan Leaf has been voted European Car of the Year 2011. Quite an achievement for a Japanese car.

Car of the Year 2011: Close win for Nissan Leaf - Car of the year

I think 2011 will be an interesting year for EV's. In the US the Volt has been voted car of the year and the Leaf has been over here.

We should hopefully be getting our hands on them in March 2011 in RHD, so a trip to the local Nissan dealer is in order. :D

they should name them "idea of the year" or "design of the year" and give " car of the year to a car that is actually available for purchase and currently on the road.

Well it will be officially available in 2011 - Jan 2011 for Portugal and March 2011 for UK and rest of Europe to follow. Guess they're sticking to markets where EVs will sell to start with.

not surprised to see we need to get outside the influence of America to recognize true innovation. not that i think the Volt does not deserve its rewards, but lets face it. the Leaf is a better idea. now only time will tell if it will have earned its rewards
