Couldn't find any help in the manual about replacement. No how to, nothing about size, or how to know if I only need to replace the rubber, or the whole arm thing. Do I need to replace the whole thing? How do I know if I need to or not? ..or just the rubber? Is this worth spending high $ on, or could I get away with smth cheapo under $40 Doing some quick and dirty googling, seems like Bosch or RainX are common go to recommendations. Was considering going to a local auto parts, but idk if that's a good idea. Would prefer that, if the prices and selection are ok, bc I'd like to not wait for a delivery.
You'll probably have to go to an auto parts store, because we don't know what you have. I doubt that's the original OEM wipers still there. The OEM, you can just replace the rubber. If someone replace them with after market, some rubber can be replaced others require the entire unit to be replaced. Good Luck....
Option 1 If you have original blades keep them and replace the rubber (inserts). Overall the best and lowest cost at the same time. You can buy all three from a local dealer for $25 msrp. Ask for a discount as well. It works at a good dealer. Toyota wiper rubber insert part numbers: Front 85214-47061 85214-47051 Rear 85214-12310 Option 2 Quick Connect Blades with inserts preinstalled Buy the oem blades which are easier to install but pricey. You get new paint on them if yours are faded. Buy these at an online dealer for 25-48% off. The original blades are aero and you won't get that with aftermarket. Aftermarket blades are easy but not oem. Usually clunky looking. Toyota Blades part numbers: Blade, Front Wiper, LH 85222-47040 Blade, Front Wiper, RH 85212-47060 Blade Rear Wiper 85242-12090 Option 3 The Spring Loaded Arms The Arms are the piece that attaches with a nut - rarely needed and may be original even if someone put on aftermarket blades Arm, Front Wiper, Rh 85211-47140 Arm, Left Wiper, LH 85221-47120 Comments Some like to use inserts in front and a blade in the rear as the inserts are a bit tricker to install on the rear Installing - Call a Friend or Watch Videos if necessary A screwdriver might be needed. The trick to remove and replace rubber inserts: Four latches lie in a metal groove that mounts the rubber strip. To remove, pull up on the rubber strip from the middle to free the last latch. Replace in reverse by threading the latch 3,2,1 and 4 last. It is easier to remove the assembly from the car rather than trying to fit the replacement in place. If necessary get a teenager to do it or watch a video. Aero OEM Blade Arm and Blade Arm with Spring Blade with Preinstalled Rubber Insert Rubber Insert There are two narrow metal strips that fit in the top grooves above. You reuse them if installing rubber only. yea, i have the original aero blades. i double checked, too, just to be safe shocked that the dealer ends up being the best deal. looked them up on amazon and it's nearly $40 for all 3 but, if i read you right, ur saying the rear is hard to replace DIY, so buy the entire assembly? not sure i follow ur directions i'd like to try and diy.
Like I said, find a teenager or video. Once you have them in your hand most people can figure it out. There are metal strips that hold the inserts in you don't see in my old parts. Once you have succeeded once its a 15 minute or less job in the future. You can do the rear inserts as well; its just slightly different because of its size. I could find a video for you but finding videos is a skill you should master. Top tip: Remove the front blades by pulling up the cover here. The rear blade and arm are removed as one piece. Remove the cover and the nut. The rear blade/arm fits a little tight.
Yeah this is a fail from Toyota; it SHOULD be explained in Owners Manual. Attached are some “behind the paywall” excerpts from the third Gen Prius Repair Manual (hopefully similar for Prius v). A tip, might save your windshield: before removing a blade, look at where the tip of the spring-loaded bare wiper arm would hit the windshield if you were to let go of it, and place a rolled up towel there.
Don't get scared off by the repair manual pdfs. The pdfs are about removing the entire wiper arm and continue down to the wiper motors. Not necessary for wiper blade removal or insert replacement.
Yeah, see for the most part it's not relevant. The rear wiper one at least is helpful. Honda Owner's Manuals have wiper insert replacement info; Toyota drops the ball. I remember going to a New Owner thing at our Toyota dealership, the service manager sheperded us through the service department, made as statement, paraphrasing "our goal is to make it so you never have to pop the hood".

also, i'm wondering where youre getting 25$ MSRP i called around the dealers and they told me $14.99/ea and w tax coming to around $50 is this bc you assume they'd give me a discount?
well, i bought em. i was able to get them to discount it but not the $24 that you mentioned. $36ish total i was surprised to learn tho, he told me, they are only meant to last one measly year... my first hint of buyers regret lol
I replaced our '10's front wipers maybe around the 10 year mark, just the rubber, from Toyota. The old ones still looked fine. Have yet to do the rears. Incidentally, I noticed gen 4 Owner's Manual now has instruction for wiper blade replacment, a nice addition. It's hopefully similar, so I've attached an excerpt:
The gen4 rear instructions are pretty close to a gen3 but the fronts are quite different. There are gen3 instructions in the repair manual floating around someone's signature. Its just tedious to locate in a 7500 page pdf without links. Especially if you already know how to do it. I also find the Toyota rubber inserts last many years - I avoid using them as a windshield cleaner which tends to trap debris between the rubber and the window. Occasionally if a big bird does his business on it I will carefully saturate the windshield with wiper fluid without engaging the wipers, multiple times, ideally wait a minute (soap does it work over time) then engage the wipers along with more fluid. If you can't get a good price from the dealer, buy from online Toyota dealers. Often I can get free ship to store for any quantity and simply pick up at the dealer. Otherwise buy your wiper rubber, air, cabin and oil filters in enough quantity to get free shipping.
