    Hello,

    I just recently bought my first Prius and it drove fine for about a month and now I’m getting codes P0A80 , P3000, C2318, B1421.

    The person I bought this from claimed he has put a refurbished hybrid battery in and said if something goes wrong within the first two months he’ll replace it free of charge. Well now problems come about and he is telling me this;

    So here’s the message I got “ these codes are not related to the battery sales that I supplied to you. They are related to the module”.

    The module tested fine everything was good, not sure what happened but he’s not gotta help me. This is what I can do for you. if you get a new computer, I will open the hybrid battery and replace the computer that will fix the problem for good. I think that’s a really good deal and better than like 98% of people would do in a private party sale situation.

    You can also reset the computer and see if that works.

    ———————————

    I am getting the car car professionally looked at tomorrow but curious if there is any truth to what he is saying or am I in for a new battery.

    thank you!

    My battery guy does the same thing with me tells me that all the time and he's come through a few times but usually he builds a pretty good battery and there's not a problem now if there's water in the trunk and all this other stuff going on you know your battery guy's really not responsible for that or if you're cooling fan is 50% lint and dust as in the video above or below this post then your battery guy again is not at fault it's not his job to clean that when he installs a battery I don't think maybe it should be but then again these battery installs usually come with the purchase price of the referred battery when I do my own cars of course I clean the fan take the fan out of the car and wash it literally I've got three here drying right now but that's not on the battery guy per se unless that's discussed or such.

    I would expect that you need a HV battery. There might be an "edge case" out there that can cause a P0A80 without having a faulty pack. That would be corrosion of the voltage sense harness at the battery ecu connector. (but usually it throws a different code). Or maybe a loose fastener somewhere at a HV connection.

    Since someone was just in there recently, I would expect that the "refurb" was minimum done to get the car sold, and that there's a faulty battery module.

    The most reliable repair is to install a new pack from Toyota.
