Hi. Just joined the forum. I have owned a new 2019, Business Edition Plus AWD UK model since November. Previously I owned a Gen 2 09 Prius for 5 years so not new to a Hybrid. Loving my new car.

Quick question. I have had a few occasions where I get an error message appears saying sensors not working. This has happened twice today when it's been raining. I wiped all the sensors but the problem reoccured shortly after again. I then cleaned the Toyota badge at the front and now seems OK. Is dirt on the Radar behind the badge the issue? Is this a common problem?

    Thanks

I clean the TOYOTA badge occasionally if it seems a bit hesitant - and wash the windscreen, as there are sensors/cameras there too.

If there is a lot of road spray, that can affect the sensitivity of the sensors.

Is this the RADAR Cruise which you're talking about - or parking sensors?

Sorry - ours here don't get the parking sensors, maybe someone from UK can help.

I'd guess it's the camera, IIRC it says in the manual that it may not work in heavy rain. I don't think dirt affects the radar too much unless it's thick mud or something. The camera glass can also get misted up inside the screen. Next time it happens see if you can see the camera lens clearly.

^^^ I do not know. Weather radar can pick up extremely large flocks of birds or swarms of locusts. If its really coming down, I guess it could cause the radar to pick that up.

But its a whole nother story if the car is saying that the sensors are not working as opposed to the radar detecting something in front of you.

Does the U.K. get ICS? There is a thread here about US owners and their ICS acting up in heavy rain. They get the “clean ICS sensors” warning. It goes away after several days, presumably when the sensors fully dry.

It's not listed, but it may be known as something else over here. I have IPS (Intelligent Park Assist) which is mentioned alongside ICS in the US brochure, so I guess it's something to do with that ?
