Just an FYI if this hits the news in the next few days.

Toyota just announced a service campaign for a very small number of 2023 vehicles. 470 cars altogether, 10 of them Priuses, no Prius Primes. The affected vehicles were manufactured early Sep of 2022 to mid Apr 2023, but the affected Priuses were only from mid Jan 23 to early Mar 23.

The error is in the data communications module(DCM). Apparently some weren't activated properly on delivery. Sounds like an entry-port or dealership-level mistake, but the campaign documentation isn't clear on exactly how the DCMs weren't activated correctly. The result is that the cars can't communicate with the cell network so no connected services will work(including the SOS function). The fix is a software update.

While I'm sure there are a view posters on here that would love to have this issue(lol), it's not a great thing for owners that actually want those features.

A letter is being sent to owners, but the quickest way to check is through the app. Even if the app can't connect to the car, an owner should still be able to see recalls and service campaigns if the car's VIN has been added to the owner's profile. You can also go to Toyota's website, login, select your vehicle, and click "View Full Health Report".

Still no updates on the bigger issue with the rear door switches.

This is why so many manufacturers have gone to over the air updates. You don't have to concern your car's software health based on whatever the port or dealership missed.

Can't do an OTA update if the data communication module isn't working. lol
