Hi everyone, I just got a 2006 Prius a few days ago with 69k miles. Its been an amazing car so far, wish I made the switch sooner!

I have been playing around with the car, trying to figure out all the gadgets, and there is two things I cant seem to figure out, which I am hoping I can get some help on.

    1. Backup camera, when I am in reverse, it shows, check surroundings for safety, but other than that, it is completly black. I checked the camera on the back of the car and it looks clean, unsure if something got unplugged?

    2. When I got the car, the dealership put brand new tires on it and the tire pressure light has come on. I checked the pressure, it is around what I think is the recommended 36 psi in front, 35 psi in the back. tires. I held down the reset button under the steering wheel, let it flash 3 times, gave it time to reset but the light keeps coming back on.

If anyone has any helpful info, I would appreciate it, thank you:)

Looks like it's time to go back to the seller to get them fixed under warranty. Good luck!

That tire pressure sounds hi. Check your door panels for a recommended pressure.

Not sure about your camera. It may be covered but also a wire might be loose. As for the tire pressure. It does not matter if your are high or low after you do the reset, as far as I have read. Once you do the reset the new pressure, high or low becomes the standard and the system works off that.

Also, I have read many a post that recommends we all use a tire pressure near the maximum PSI for the tires on the car-usually around 43 or 44 psi. I am running at this level and feel it helps give the best MPG. I just read in my car manual (I have a 2007) that once I rotate/change pressure I need to do the reset as you did.

Now my worry for you is that when they changed the tires, they put in standard car tire inflation valves and not the special ones the Prius/Toyota need for the sensor system to work properly.

If any of this helps, good. If you find I have made an error, please let me know.

You could have one or more defective tire pressure monitors.
