I noticed at the dealer right now they have an incentive if you buy a new prius, up to around $2k-$3k I believe. Is this incentive going to last for the whole year? Is Toyota doing this because the new Prius is coming out next year?

Hmmmm......no incentives around here in Texas. It's still hard as heck to find a prius. Usually the only stay on the lot a couple of days or so.

Last year at this time they had incentives -- I paid their advertised price, which was $2000 off MSRP. But it ended at the end of April, and I don't think they offered much else for months after that.

Inventories around here are usually pretty good.

I am here in the Bay Area, and I have noticed a $2000 incentive on the pack #6 prius I believe. I notice that best prices people are paying around $25400 + taxes to get a package 6... Does this mean with the incentive that I could possibly get one for $23400?!? This sounds too good to be true. Either way, I should probably act fast if I want to take advantage of the incentive.

Edit: I just talked to the dealers here and they say the msrp of the pkg #6 is around $29,500, so with the $2,000 rebate it is around $27,500. But the question still remains, can I get them $2000 below what people were paying prior to the $2000 "manufacturer incentive", near $24K for a pkg #6?

You would need to look at the details of what is being offered by this particular dealer. In my case they were offering $2000 off MSRP and would not even consider negotiating further on the price. I am really bad at negotiating, but I was able to get them to increase the trade-in on my old car a bit and lower the interest rate on the loan by one point when I said I had to go home to re-check my budget and see if I could afford what they were offering.

The price I paid was shown as a "Manager's Special" price on the dealer's website at the time.

But I have noticed TV commercials from time to time referring to savings on option packages, and with other models they sometimes offer special lease deals. So you would have to read the fine print for the current offer that you're seeing.

Here in the panhandle they are selling fast, my dealer had to do a sea trade with another dealer just to get my color (black). It won't arrive until April 16. If you can get $2000 off a Prius right now when they are already selling so well, jump on it. Good luck.
