Hey everyone I just made a purchase of a 2005 prius. It has 219k! but it is literally the nicest car I have ever owned and looks new in and out (must have been garaged and no kids)! Got it from a dealer for 5k cash. One owner, no accidents and has bin into the dealership every 5k since new with all scheduled maintenance up to date (with records from toyota owner registry website). I hope it will be good even with that high milage! Still average 44.7 on the current tank. Any advice for me?
If you are in an area with a good independent Prius repair shop,, you should get familiar with it. You should summarize the last 3 years of service receipts so when you have to take it to a shop they will have a good idea about what's going on…..Good Luck.
One item that we often suggest, that is not on Toyota's suggested maintenance, is a drain and refill of the ATF WS in the transaxle every 60,000 miles. Other than that, Toyota's schedule is pretty good.
