I believe this is a new one to me. 46k miles on the car now, and once in a while I'll catch it locking itself. For example, unlocked all doors from the house, left the keys inside as I only needed to get something out of the car. While outside I decided to turn the hose on and water some plants. About a minute into doing that the car re-locked itself.

This was probably 6 AM in the morning.

Are your cars locking themselves now?

my 12 does that when i unlock with the fob instead of the handle. do not know if there's a setting that can be changed, and gen4 might be different.

If you unlock your car with the fob and don't open the door, the locks will re-lock themselves after about 30-60 seconds. Not specific to Prii...we had a Honda that did the same thing.

Check your manual and you should find the explanation. Ours has done that since day one under the right conditions.

My last 4 cars have done that. If you were to open a door and close it again - it would stay unlocked for eternity - or longer.

Iirc, on my 2022 Prime, that's a programmable feature.
Iirc, the time delay (?3 choices?), and the lock/no-lock are programmable.

You may be able to program some of those features from the bigger info display (?car settings?).

I programmed the features on my car with an Xtool D8.
A 1 month Carista obd app subscription may be able to do the same thing, but at a much cheaper price.
Iirc, even without a subscription, Carista showed the options that were available to customize on a particular car?

    Good Luck!
