I have been reading on some of the forums that the 2008 Prius has the new 7.1 DVD Navigation version in it. I can't confirm or deny this. If this is true, would my Toyota Dealer know. Is it like most navigation companies, the new units get the DVD, and upgrades take a few months?

If anyone can confirm any information, it would be appreciated.

I have a 2007 Prius and 2007 Sienna, both with Navigation.

Only way you'll know is to check the map version in the vehicle.

The only difference is the the "I Agree" screen which goes away after a few seconds rather than forcing you to press it every time.

I only have in my 07 Prius and Sienna the 6.1 version. I want to upgrade them to 7.1. Just want to know when I could get it.

<Shrug> that is a pretty heft price tag imo. But if it's a dual-layer DVD, then for 8GB it's not *too* bad. A 850MB map from TomTom is Cdn$150.

Hah, GM ships their customers a brand new disc each year for free. And they have the same navi software as Toyota does.

Are you serious...that just makes me mad. There really should be a flash utility, at the very least, that would allow updates via the internet for free for what we pay for the system to start with. Even my little $169 Garmin allows updates from the net for free. It's far cheaper to buy and updateable aftermarket GPS than it is to update one you already own.

Yup, a co-worker has 2 GM trucks and he gets CD's for both for free - both have Denzo radio's. The layout is a little different but it has the EXACT same graphics as my 05 Prius.
