Hello, I have a stock 2010 winter grey prius 4 that I picked up about 3 years ago. I'm going to look at some OEM Lexus CT200h 10 spoke wheels over the weekend and from what I've gathered, I'll lose about 4-6mpg and I will not need spacers or hub centric rings. I think I remember seeing that 2nd gen Prius center caps should fit on the CT200h wheels. Can anyone confirm this? What I couldn't find out was if I'll need new/longer lug nuts to mount these wheels. Can anyone with these wheels on a 3rd gen please share some color on this? Thanks!
I picked up (via Amazon) a set of four Gorilla Automotive 73137TB Chrome Toyota Mag Style Lug Nut-Bag of 4 (12mm X 1.50 Thread Size) to replace locking nuts on our 2010 Prius. They look/function identical to the OEM lug nuts. Anyway: I added a 2010 Lexus CT200h to my Amazon "garage", and checked: it says they're compatible.
Got the wheels mounted using stock lugs/lock but I have a question about TPMS. The local Costco wants to charge me $200+ to install 4 new TPMS. Are TPMS's a wear and tear item so much so that I have to get fresh ones installed or can I simply just take them off of my stock 15's and use them on the new wheels? It'll save about $100 if I go this route... Thanks!
Some time rim contours will vary, and the stock tpms won't fit, but barring that yeah: just swap them over. And they still want $100 to accomplish this? Seems high. Their latest cash cow...

Not yet. I'm going to call some places and get separate quotes for dismounting tires and installing TPMS. I'll likely have it done in a month or so when I have some time. I also need to take my car in for the airbag recall so I may just have the dealer do it if they're willing to do it for free.
I would wait till you have to, or need to take the tires off. Can't see dealership doing that for free. Some States will fail you at inspection if you have tpms light on. Others don't. There's a list in progress at tirerack: Wheel Tech Information - State TPMS Regulations In Canada, there's no requirement. I don't use tpms on my snows, and if/when our OEM rims tpms fail I'll probably just get regular valves, unless the tech has changed a lot. I appreciate the safety aspect, but at least with Toyota's implementation the pros get eclipsed by complexity, hassle and expense.
Yeah I'd rather not pay for a job I don't need to pay for but that light bothers me. There are other repairs I could put the money too so we'll see I guess. Thanks for all your help Mendel Leisk.
