Just completed a deal on an '04 Prius with 65k miles on it! It's black with tan interior, has the tech package, and scored it for a sweet deal. Hoping for it to last a long time, and hopefully not be maintenance intensive. Been a long time since I've owned a Toyota. Have had BMW after BMW, but I've gotten sick of how maintenance and cost intensive they are outside of warranty. I will take delivery either on Wednesday or Saturday. In the meantime, I will peruse the forums. I look forward to being apart of the community! I love bimmerforums and the support and advice they've given me, so I look forward to another online community of wealth and info to be gained from here, as well as the camaraderie! What are some things you suggest I do first when I get my new (to me) Prius??
:welcome: i would change the oil and filter, mobil one, and rotate the tires. air filter, cabin filter etc. change the transaxle oil is a good idea although not necessary. that's about it until 100,000, all the best!
:welcome: to PriusChat! Turn off the reverse beep? unless it doesn't bother you or it's been turned off by the previous owner. Oh and browse the Knowledge Base forum found under the Gen 2 forums.
Welcome! Some things we did early on: Change the tires if you still have the stock Integrities. Increase tire pressure to sidewall indication, usually 44 front, 42 back. Will increase stiffness of ride (which some don't like), but increase MPG. Turn off seatbelt beep if you are a habitual seatbelt user. Turn off or convert backup beep. You can find procedures on all this stuff on PriusChat somewhere. The Search function in your friend. Oh. Also get some cool graphics, stripes or paintjob. Death to boring monochromes.
