I have two Gen II traction batteries and I would like to sell one of the two. One is brand new with less than 500 miles on it with a warranty installed by Toyota June 2015 .This new battery is currently out of the car. The other is a 2008 battery with 43,200 miles on it and counting. Both batteries come complete with ECU and I am not looking for a core unless you want me to dispose of yours. The 2008 battery is currently installed in my 2nd gen Prius and if would be delivered by this Prius where it would be available for test driving before removal.

    The story behind these batteries:

I was looking for a summer car project and I found a small local car lot selling a 2007 prius with 102,000 miles and hybrid problems on craigslist for $2800. The one and only mechanic had no prior hybrid experience and was struggling with its repair thus they were willing to let it go well below market value. I determined that the vehicle needed a transaxle (techstream was recording HV leaks and it was quite loud) as well as throwing a periodic battery trouble code. I jumped the gun and picked up the 2008 traction battery from a local craigslist seller that was parting out a front end crashed 2008 with 40,200 miles that had been sitting well over a year.

Long story short: Toyota replaced the HV traction battery and transaxle under warranty J…so much for my summer car project.

I wanted to verify that the used low mileage craigslist battery was good after sitting for over a year so I grid charged it, removed my new battery and installed the used one. I have been running the 2008 battery for the past three months and over 3,000 miles and its working perfectly I am averaging 49 mpg)

This vehicle will be going to my son soon and I really don’t want to store a spare battery.

I would like to get $1000.00 for the 2008 battery or $2,000 for the new battery. I am willing to drive up to 300 miles from tropical Buffalo NY to deliver and help install. There would be no additional charge for local pickup and installation assist. For delivery I would charge $1.00/ mile I.e. If you were located 150 miles away (300 mile round trip) It would be an additional $150.00). At this time I would prefer not to ship.

If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask,
    Ken

No core required, no sales tax, installation assistance, battery computer included hopefully add to their value.

The question I have been battling is should I be keeping one battery over the other rather than let the market determine what battery I should keep?

I drove down to Wilmington Delaware with the used 2008 battery still installed in my 2007 Prius along with the new battery strapped down in the hatch (400 miles , 51.8 mpg).
The next day I met Anne and her husband (A prius chat member) and we took the used battery out of my Prius and installed it in their Prius
I then installed the new Toyota battery back in my prius so I could get back home (it had been out of the velicle for approximately 6 months) and both vehicle fired right up.....I had no doubt :) It took me 2.5 hours to remove the two batteries, install the two and test.
I left the Anne with her bad complete core battery/ battery ECU.
If there is a forum member in the Wilmington Delaware area that is linterested in purchasing her core to rebuild let me know and Ill give her your contact information.
