Hey, I just saw a diesel bus on the downtown core. It was labelled as a test vehicle with some sort of variant of diesel. It started with B and no, it's not Bio diesel. The whole bus was painted with signs that said TEST and like.. advanced technology, and so on.

Anybody else have that kinda bus in their city? I should've taken a photo dang it.

I'm sure it's B20 - which is 20% biodiesel and 80% regular diesel. Our campus busses have been running on that for a while, and it's sold at a few of the public gas stations around here.

New Flyer Industries here in Winnipeg makes a lot of the city transit busses used in major North American cities. They do development and proof-of-concept right here in Winnipeg: what better way to prove a bus than potholes and -40?

Are you positive it wasn't Biodiesel of some sort, maybe a blend? Co-Op here is starting to market a bio-blend, and Mohawk/Husky service stations have their ethanol blends for gasoline.

Perhaps that bus also had a test motor too? Variable geometry turbocharging and EGR has been proven to really clean up diesel emissions.

well if it was biodiesel, i'll know unless they came up with some fancy name for a blend that I don't know of.

alright, I'll keep an eye out for it.

Could it have been a Ballard fuel cell bus?
