    New Method Simplifies Biodiesel Production
By Jim Core, Agricultural Research Service Information Staff.

    found via ScienceBlog.com

ARS scientists in Wyndmoor, Pennsylvania, have modified biodiesel production technology. Their method eliminates a step—and an air-polluting chemical—from the process of synthesizing the fuel. Michael Haas, a biochemist with the Eastern Regional Research Center's Fats, Oils, and Animal Coproducts Research Unit, and colleagues developed the new approach.

It's kind of funny, if you read down through the article because their first try resulted in rather expensive fuel until they got the bright idea of drying the soybean flakes first.

Sounds like promising technology as an alternative fuel, especially for factory farms to manufature their own fuel.
