I keep turning off the coffee break reminder and somehow it keeps resurrecting from the dead and switch back on. Is this by design?

Check your OM, that may be one of those that resets every time you power down.
You should be able to permanently disable it with the proper scan tool.

    Hope this helps....

Most/all safety features reactivate upon startup. This appears to be one of them. I can confirm mine also reenables every power cycle.

I vaguely remember these coffee break warnings. Haven't seen one a long time. I think it may have to do with turning off Lane Departure Alerts(LDA).

I hate trying to drive in the center of the lane and remember how irritating the Lane Departure Alerts where early on. Pg 313 of manual talks about the LDA and page 627 of the manual shows that Lane Departure Alert System and Driver Break Suggestions can be turned off in the multi-information display.
