    Hi everyone

I am experiencing some really weird symptoms with my car and as this is the biggest forum regarding Toyota hybrids, why not ask here

It is a first generation crown hybrid that was imported from Japan( Model code GWS-204 if someone likes to know)
It basically is a big 2nd gen prius with a nice suit as it uses the same hybrid system although with a bigger engine and battery

    1. Car starts always without problem( READY ON) and drives fine, just wont go to ev mode or shutdown the engine to drive on electric, Highway/extra urban consumption is what Toyota claims,
    City is another thing..

    2. Triangle of death comes without fail everytime engine is started, drops the SOC to 1 bar( If battery is full), but starts charging the traction battery.

    3. Car came with a super dead 12v( from full to empty in less than 10 minutes) but started without jump cables. Changed the 12v to new, but the current drops after using acc mode 10minutes to 11V, even 10,5V and stays there.

. I have used techstream to read the codes and checked the freeze frames( Attached below) 2 of the battery blocks are quite low but the delta SOC is always 6% or under and SOC is always 24,5% or 25% regardless what the infotainment screen says.

So before i start to rip the battery and use gazillion euros to replace it, i would like to know the sentence of the toyota hybrid wizards.

    Thanks a lot! IMG20250218134544.jpg IMG20250217182843.jpg

Only fault code now are P0A80 alone, all of these others havent come back.

You can try to charge and balance and reconditioning with high voltage trickle charger, but looks like a couple of your modules are failing and you could replace them or could spend the big bucks and replace the whole pack. The latter being a permanent repair for a decade or longer with the former being enough to get you down the road for a year or two or three.

Your high-voltage battery consists of 40 modules, which make up 20 pairs.

All of them are connected in series and controlled by the battery ECU.

During operation, the ECU compares the voltage values of adjacent pairs of modules and, if there is a large difference between the voltages of adjacent modules, it records an error on the battery. P0A80
After this, it is suggested to replace the battery.

In the photo from the Techstream program, you can see an abnormally low voltage on the 9th and 12th pair of modules.

One of the modules has internal damage and is unsuitable for further operation.

The battery must be disassembled and the faulty modules replaced.
