Looking to put in sound deadener in the back. I was able to do the doors. But for the life of me I can't figure how to take out the side panels in the trunk area.

And if you have info on floor removal that would be great too, that's next on the agenda.:D

I have a post showing some of this - but can't find it...

At any rate, I used 48sf by memory for doors, and rear.

Pull out all the trunk stuff (liner, liner cover). The plastic where the rear hatch latches just pulls up (snaps out). The battery cover, and other side pop out easy. Removing the side panels is more difficult - there are a could 10mm bolts on each side - one at the privacy shade, and another further forward (easy to see).

Then you can pull the panels back quite a lot - plenty to get the stuff almost everywhere. Under the tire already has some deadening. I was able to get it pretty high up each side with this approach.

The shop I bought the stuff at had an excellent recommendation - wear gloves (or you'll tear up your fingers).

After doing this (like almost a day), if you tap on the outside of the car, it sounds more like a Lexus. The doors also close with a similar sound.

That said, I don't know it really did much in the big scheme of things. It seems most of the noise comes from the front of the car (firewall/under front feet/front left/right) - which is all very hard to get to...

The doors make a noticeable difference.

Thanks rrolf. I'll give it another go this weekend. Good advice, I always wear those mechanix gloves when doing this sort of work.

I've got my stuff ready to apply to the panels this afternoon but I also can't find any other bolts/screws for the rear sound panels on my 2011. I've taken all the bolts off for cargo net, near rear hatch and the panel is loose at the bottom only, but the cover to the battery(carpet cover) will not let go. Found one bolt, some velcro, but it seems it's stuck right down the middle of the battery cover, and if I could get this out of the way I think I would be able to pull it up enough to slide some deadener underneath.

The top part of the panels are stuck fast, but maybe that won't hurt.

Any hints today would be great!!! Thanks!
