Greetings all. This is my first post but I’ve come to the forum many times for info. Right now I’m stumped.

I have a 2008 Prius base with 206k miles. It has the ((!)) ABS VSC lights on. I got the following blink codes:

    ABS 35
    (!) 36
    VSC 43
    Red seat belt/airbag light 32
    TPMS 23

Any ides? Is it true this can be caused by a bad 12v?

    Any advice is appreciated!!

Do you hear your ABS pump running all the time or seemingly a lot or a lot more than it used to I think you have the right codes I don't know the blink codes but you have all the correct lights on for the break actuator issue or ABS issues which in this car if sensors aren't ripped out of the wheels and such. Then usually the break actuator is failing in some way there's an internal leak of bleed down something. Very common It happens all the time. But I do not know what the blink codes equal someone will be along in the second that knows them by heart

I'd be lying if I said I knew them by heart, but we do have a page here

Blink (a/k/a Flash) Codes – How to. | PriusChat

that explains how to find them easily in the repair manual.

35 on the ABS light is the C1235 code, about a weird signal waveform coming from the right front wheel speed sensor (something stuck on the tip of the sensor, maybe, or some wiring issue). There are five pages in the repair manual with steps for figuring it out.

The VSC 43 and ((!)) 36 just refer to that ABS code.

Airbag light 32 is the B1650 code, to do with the occupant classification system (the sensors in the passenger seat and ECU with the job of deciding whether the weight is a package or a person and control the airbags accordingly). Six pages in the manual for that one.

TPMS 23 is no signal from one of your tire sensors (the one whose ID number is registered in slot 3 with the car, but that tells you nothing about which corner of the car it is). Probably the sensor's battery has conked out. Any tire shop should have a wand they can use to find which tire isn't transmitting, way faster than you could figure out "which tire is the one that's ID3?".

Ooooo. Thanks Chapman. I recently had the front right wheel off so there is a chance I unplugged the sensor.

I’m really hoping this isn’t the brake actuator.
