Hey guys! so I recently replaced my 05 Prius hybrid battery with “GreenBean” but cheaper then the dealer because this is my commuter car don’t want to spend the dealer price as many of us wouldn’t. So after being installed the mpg are not the same it feels like the hybrid doesn’t kick in all the time or the engine is doing too much work with not as much help from the battery? What can cause this issue? Sometimes I’ll get 60mg freeway, on average it’s 18-24 freeway which is way low for a Prius and city is like 13mpg range awful, one fuel tank I got almost 600miles to the tank and the other ones Barely hit 300miles to the tank. It’s frustrating if anyone can please point me In a direction would be much appreciated.

That's like full size V8 pickup truck gas mileage.

I am no fan at all of Greenbean after all the sob stories I've read and refurbing is generally a high risk and high skill proposition to be done well. That said, I don't see how the traction battery could be bad enough to give you that bad of fuel economy without throwing a code or two .. or three. In fact, it sounds like you must be towing a battleship.

It won't hurt to run Dr. Prius on the battery to see how it's doing, but there are plenty of other things that can drag down your mileage. Stuck brakes, low tire pressure, MAF sensor, air filters, low 12V battery, etc, etc. It may even be a combination of factors.

Greenbean has lifetime warranty, correct? I'd be hitting them up and telling them you need a replacement.

If the ONLY thing that changed was the HV battery, it would seem that you are the unfortunate recipient of the dreaded "what you paid for" syndrome, which would be very unfortunate.

Having said that, there should be battery faults if it is not charging correctly, presuming the HV ECU is reporting accurately.
