Need Carfax Report Please!

Go to your local Toyota dealership. You can get a free carfax on anything they sell. At least my dealership does. If it's a private party selling the car, you may just have to pay for the carfax report.

 

My local credit union also provides free car fax reports.

So if the dealership cannot help you try your local bank or credit union.

 

B) Compared to the cost of a used or new car, a CarFax report is incidental.

I've heard reports (unverified) that not all states have electronic data that Carfax can pull. NM is one of them. So if you get a Carfax for a car that was in one of these states, you are wasting your money. Your mileage may vary.

Going to www.carfax.com and keying the VIN provided some interesting information. If you can't get a free one from a dealer or bank spend the $20 or $25 to get the report from carfax. Buying a used car when you are not familiar with its history just may be the biggest, dumbest mistake you can make. IMO Carfax and kbb are two essential resources.

It is true. Some states don't require titles. Scammers know the "easy" states and will move a car through them. This is how salvaged cars can get clean titles or odometer fraud covered up. I believe (but do not know) that Carfax will warn if no data is available.
