The GPS unit is under the driver's seat with access to the DVD on the back of the unit. The antenna is under the dashboard.

That's important to know if you're planning to add tinting to the front window. Some types of tinting material can block the signal.

Thank you! I wuold have never thought to look under the seat. By the way, the dealer installed XM radio antenna is installed on the dash on the passenger side. This is the first time I have seen an "indoor" XM antenna install.

Can you post a picture of your dash XM antenna please?

Hi David, I also has a inside XM antenna. It can be problematic. If you live in the northern hemisphere your antenna has to have a clear view of the southern sky (thats where the sat. is). When driving due north my signal would frequently be interupted till my heading moved a bit left or right of due north. I eventually had a rear external antenna put on the car and haven't had a problem since.

Same problem here. I live in Ottawa, Canada. They put the XM antenna inside the driver's window post, but whenever the metal of the window post blocked the southern sky I lost my signal. Eventually they put it outside the car (above the rear view mirror), and really works well now.
