I was looking through the forums and found this post for resetting the Nav, but it looks like he has a 2004. As I understand it, the Nav may be different in the 2006. Does anyone know the reset procedure or know where this might be documented?

 I can't imagine why you would NEED to "reset" the NAV system on a 2006 Prius. That entire procedure sounds real risky to me. But... that's your business. Hope you don't disable your NAV system.

It might help if you'd clarify why you want to "reset" and what you're trying to accomplish. For example: Do you need to rid your system of old memory points established by a former owner? - or something like that?

The guy in that previous post was able to clear the firmware. When I used the new 6.1 it did a firmware update. I'd like the option to clear that out...

I would imagine the process would be similar, but it is way beyond my comfort level. Also remember the person that wrote that is in a bad spot. He had hosed his Nav System playing around with the diagnostic screen. He was trying to find out what the screen did. He really had several bad choices but they all ended with replacing the NAV ECU. The risk justified the potential reward. Many lessons here.

I'm not worried about opening the thing up, but I guess it would be nice if there was a visual guide to removing the unit from underneath the seat. It's hard to see under there. Htmlspinnr's description of opening the unit (once out) sounds pretty straight forward. Even if the units are different, I think I know what to look for based on his post, but having confirmation or a guide would just help reassure me.
