So, I have had my 2009 Prius for a month, and am musing about what mods I want to do to make it into my very own. It's only March, but here's my Christmas list: 1. Add receiver hitch for bike rack (ordered). 2. Add Sirius or XM radio (but the integrated aftermarket unit seems rather pricey). 3. Add shark antenna (love how it looks, worried that it won't function as well as the factory antenna). 4. Replace OEM 12v battery with Optima (but it's too early for that). 5. Replace OEM GY Integrity tires with LLR tires (again too early). 6. Leather wrap the steering wheel...the original feels so chintzy. Have to decide whether to try to match the current interior or just get a neutral gray or black. 7. Add "some" wood grain trim. 8. Install the BT stablizer bar. 9. Mud flaps (not eager to drill holes into the body though). 10. And some minor things: synthetic motor oil and a front sunshade. -- I'm taking down names for all the Prius accessory sites! John
I suggest the Wheelskin first. I used black and am happy with the contrast. Be sure to install it WARM (the one on my Prius has a bit of a gap in one point, first time that happened after doing a few of these, but I did do it in the cold). Only you can decide how much integrated controls for satellite radio is worth. To me it was worth it, and I enjoy my VAISTech unit. I actually like the look of the shorty stock antenna - makes it look like an RC car or something! Do the synthetic thing at the first oil change. Do the tires when it is time (based on your own wear tolerance - I change when tires are below half, not when they are slick, due to the winter weather here in Colorado), and the battery after at least a couple of years. Check out usbseawolf2000's pictures for a great job of adding some REAL wood to the interior, and search his posts for where to get it (this has been discussed recently). What about window tint? Adding a subwoofer to the stereo? How about a sunroof? In any case, enjoy personalizing your Prius!
