Mrs. "you gotta be an idiot to buy advanced technology" just took off for a trip in the new Prius.

I gave her the start instructions twice! Huh? What was that? Keep the key in your pocket, walk up to it, pull on the door handle, put your foot on the brake and press start. Take off the brake, shift into the gear you want.

Leave the key in your pocket, do not take it out.

    Huh?

    (repeat)

Yes, Mrs. tire buster, front end alignment wrecker, brake grinder has just took off in the car.

I may never get it back.

Robert, if I could take points away, I would. That's a pretty misleading title you have there. When you say "left me" I think, you know, "LEFT".

Anyway, looks like she's come around. What'd'ya know?

Bland food has no spice, and gee, I REALLY thought she would never get in it. Then, I became settled in that thought.

The last car she said she never get in. She never got out of, well nearly.

    Will it return intact?

(I have been looking out the window)

    Yes, I am anxious.

Perhaps if she read your previous thread she won't be coming back.
(joke) I'll bet when she returns, she'll want one of her own! Then you can have the old and busted Prius she's already destroyed. (another joke)

    I kill myself!

Yup, I am wondering if its a goner.

More than one male has had an unexpected spousal siezure of his (former) Prius.

I must have looked five times out the window, supposedly the supermarket 1/2 mile away, 45 minutes later I figure its a drive.

Naah, its loaded with food along with 14 bottles of shampoo and assorted products.

You never should have let her have the fob.

On the other hand, maybe you were exaggerating in your other post? Maybe she does not actually damage a car every time she drives it???

    Good luck.

And yes, you did sort of trick us into opening this thread.

Once again, I get down on my hands and knees to kiss the floor, thankful to be absolutely and irrevocably single.

I am the aforementioned brother in Seattle on another post and suppose that since I got a 2004 Prius (10/19/03 purchase...2nd off the lot at Magic Toyota in Edmonds, WA...AM 7 package silver) I am the cause of all this havoc!

Robert, I am afraid that you should have hidden the fob. Your best possible situation now is to source a new Prius!

I have a deal on an 04 with 22K miles on it for you! 8)

I must have missed this line earlier. Is this to say that the car made it home safe and sound?

Well, its the next day and finally I get a break to check on PriusChat.

I think the front end alignment is off a tad from where it was, but the first indication of something different was the morning commute, dropping my four (yeah we got someone else's kid right now too, long story, I know Price is chuckling) at two different schools. Its cold, 30 degrees or so but nearing school number two I notice that its beginning to feel like Miami in July in the cabin of the Prius.

Gee, whats wrong, I left this set on 68 degrees, auto climate control...

Heck, she reset the climate control to 84 degrees or thereabouts!

I supposed if you set the thing higher, the car will heat faster?

She was doing the same thing at home until I told her that she would induce the quick death of the gas furnance on a very cold night if she didn't quit. But no dice, she has trained some of the children into the same mindset, I become aware of it when I start sweating in the house.

Come to think of it, the one time we have rode in that Town Car together over to a friends house she had it set in the mid 80's in temp. She could be driving around with that heat deliberately.

I find 68 degrees with 30 degree outside temps and a coat on in the car much more bearable. Each to his own.

Watch it!! Unless you're looking for a divorce, you should NEVER tell anyone her weight... or complain about her in a public forum, even.

My wife never drove my old 2004 and has yet to drive the new 2005 Prius.

Guess I'm just lucky like that.

I'll take that sage advice and use that edit function...

My problem is I keep trying to sell her on the benefits of the Prius since she blew a cork over my ordering one after months of attempting to persuade her of its merits.

I would talk up safety considerations but that does not seem to resonate either.

My approval seeking should end and just be thankful I am not today driving a bloated detroit barge that isn't as comfortable to ride and drive.

The joy of motoring has not been this strong for me since my teen years, the Prius has exceeded my expectations.
