Finally done with way too many mods for my '11 Prius IV in Blizzard Pearl. What can I say...you folks owe me a ton of money because I bought the Prius for mileage and here I am 4 months later with a bunch of other stuff! Guess I will have to drive it a while to make the mileage gains offset the mod prices...

    Here is the list...

    • Front Plate Bracket - Color matched Blizzard White. Would have preferred not to have it but the dealer drove screws into bumper before I could stop them.
PC Foglights - really do a nice job of filling in the road, I live where there actually is a need due to the fog here.
Motegi SP10 Hyper Black 17" - I kept the stock wheels for snow tires.
      PC Shark Antenna
Window Tint - all but front
Color Matched Mudflaps - Toyota Southeast off of eBay
      Toyota body side mouldings
Toyota lower sill moldings (I think they go well with the wheels)
      Weathertech Window Vents
      Lighted Door Sills
Wood Dash - Toyota Southeast Gray (forgot to take picture)

I suppose I could go for lowering it an inch or so but rest of family drives the car and not looking to have them rip off body parts because they will not care for it.

Thanks for all of the other members here who have tried and shared all of their mods so that I could pick and choose things that I liked in order to make the Prius mine.

Looks real nice. I like the wheels and the matching lower moldings.

You just can't beat the white with black accents! So glad I chose that color, also! Good job!

Nice upgrades! I just got my '12 Prius Blizzard Pearl last week here in SD. I'm here at a local shop getting it lowered with Eibach springs - yay! I'm thinking of upgrading my wheels to size 17 or 18? If I do, what is the correct/proper offset or size so as not to compromise ride quality & maybe mpg? Thanks for the input.

I used TireRack to find appropriate wheels so I honestly did not worry about offset and the size is the same as the Prius V for 2011 so I was not worried about fit. I'm not sure what the specs on the 12 are but if you go that route, you should be able to find options.

As far as the mileage hit is concerned, I knew the wider tire in larger diameter would hit the mileage so I focused on looking for wheels at the lighter end of the range to make sure I was not really going to take a hit. Heavier wheels would also impact what little performance there is to be had with the Prius so I figured weight would also be worth watching there as well. At some point, I am going to weigh my stock rims with snow tires vs. the 17" to see what the total difference is. I'll report back when I do...

As far as overall impact to mileage is concerned, it's too early to tell. Here in the Pacific Northwest, my mileage has been pounded by the cold crappy weather and relatively hilly area I live in...the difference is easily a couple of miles per gallon in winter. I did offset that a touch by using a grill blocking strategy I found here on PC (see the first picture...hard to even tell it was done). In the same weather (but not necessarily scientific since I was not insuring same roads/driving style) I found the blocking added back around 3 mpg. Like I said, not scientific and I will be able to tell more when the weather warms and the engine is broken in next winter what the difference is.

    Thanks for the comments all.

    Very Nice Mods indeed!

  9. Very nice. You might as well complete the mods with some HIDs, LED side view mirrors and Valenti's. ;)

Yeah, where did you get that wood dash?

I think it looks real sharp. I like the grey tone.

Finally saw the colored mud flaps on a prius and looks sharp. Planning to get one of those someday. The colored mud flaps make the whole car look sharper IMO.

Nice wheels. ;) I've been looking at them for many months now. Can you post some better pics of them from the side of the car? What size & type of tire did you get?

I also like the color of the gray wood dash kit. Where did you get it? Any links & cost?

Where is WA are you? I'm down in Vancouver so it would be cool if you were close to see your car in person. :D

Wood Dash came from Sparks Toyota dealer - Myrtle Beach I think.
Woodgrain Dash Applique - Gray Wood at Sparks Toyota-Scion, Myrtle Beach, SC
They sell a light and dark kit...see other threads for pictures of the light kit. What I liked most about this kit vs others is that most that I saw did not cover up to the aluminum around the shift area, they sort of left a hole around where it rises up. Maybe others would like that but I did not.

Color matched mudflaps came from Daytona Toyota - Ridiculously expensive, even more so for the Blizzard Pearl (What the hell was I thinking?) Well, at least I think they look great... I found them on eBay and they usually have several listings. Relatively easy to install except for the need of removing each wheel as you went along. Thankfully, I have a racing jack.

As for better pictures of the wheels, it'll have to wait for a while, weather is predicted to be rain for at least the next week or so. I put 215/45X17 Michelin Primacy MXM4s on it. (I also went with Michelin X-Ice Xi2s for my stock rim snows...another LRR tire.) There are plenty of picks around the web that show a close up. I'll note that the Motegi's come with their own lugs and removal socket so they are matched to the wheels. At least this is true for the Hyper Black model. I also fitted TPMS sensors to these wheels so now all I have to do is swap and program.

As for the HIDs, Valenti and mirror mods...they are calling for me but I have yet to answer. The stock lights are good, but needed a bit of lower and wider fill thus the fogs. The Valenti's are cool but have yet to find any one style that i really dig and I am split 50/50 on chrome vs smoked look. The mirrors are a pain because of the painting that needs to be done to get them color matched...if there was a kit I could pre-order Blizzard, they would probably be next.

Very nice mods indeed JMG. And lower rocker moldings looks & matches real good w/ rims:). As for the mirrors, they come painted in the color of your choice.

  16. Here are the side view mirrors. I believe Blizzard white pearl is 070. I had mine painted by the seller, paint quality is pretty good.

    Looks great.

My personal opinion is the chrome lower moldings and side body moldings together look too busy. I'd ditch the side body moldings for a cleaner look, but if you must have moldings there get the tapered version instead, which flows with the body lines a lot better.

You can get the side view turn signal mirrors pre-painted.

I think the chrome red Valenti HC would look best with your hyper black rims. The smoked SB is a better match for darker rims.

yeah, it really peeves me to see all these Hyundai cheaper model cars sitting on the lot with signal mirrors, and then we have a pretty high-tech car that "normally" comes with them, and they choose to omit that from our cars.... I'm like, "If Hyundai can do stuff like that, then why the heck do our cars have to specifically NOT come with them?" Doesn't Toyota know that we buy our cars in the U.S. because of all the play-pretties they come with? lol

In the end IMO Toyota and Honda don't care what the market thinks in then end. They have the market share regardless of the reviews and such.... Small things like turn signals on the side view mirrors could swing some folks.... I look at it at a cost of manufcature point... It could not cost that much more - but Toyota disagrees...
