About two months ago, I purchased a 2002 Blue Moon Pearl Prius that had one owner, no accidents, 79,000 miles, great conditions, no chips, two medium scratches though and an extended warranty that covers everything until I hit 5 years or 122,000 miles in the car.

So far, I love it. I replaced the spark plugs with Pulstar Iridum spark plugs thats said to increase the power and efficiency. Needless to say, I'm happy with them and I noticed a 3-4mpg increase. I replaced the air filters with K&N air filters and noticed a a little improvement too.

Most of my improvements, I haven't noticed a power increase, but I have noticed a big efficiency increase. Only because Prius transmits its power through a planetary CVT that uses the electric motors to retard certain parts of the transaxle, the power that can actually get to the wheels is limited. With an engine power increase, the carriers don't die, but any extra engine power goes to charging the high voltage battery, rather than making the wheels push the road back harder. The Prius is also a very difficult car on which to change the air/fuel ratio; in standard form it stays at 14.7:1 at all loads.

Anyhow, I'm happy with the car and look for it to last a very long time. I just added a decal on the side that has the Gen.1 Prius font and it says "TOYOTA HYBRID SYSTEM" underneath. Cost me $411.00 because it's a HUGE decal, but it definitely gets more attention.
