    Hello guys,

I'm Andras from Hungary. First I would like to congratulate to this site and forum, really interesting and informative.

After reading tons of posts in this forum and other resources i finally decided to buy a used prius.

After lot of searching and testing finally I ended a white one from France import:
    06 european prius
    sol package
    96000 km

4 days driving and i'm very excited. Really comfortable, and full ev mode in traffic jams.. incredible :)
Got 240km already and 5.8 l/100km average - very good, if i count in that is 1/2 highway and 1/2 city.

Here is the mods what I go for:
    -Aftermarket back up radar
-Installing my Dension icelink 300 from my '02 corolla

    Not sure but maybe:
    -HID replacement

I would like to install one of PHEV mods, but 10k+ mods is out of my reach. Our goverment does not support hibrid cars, neither the modifications... I think I would go for enginer 4k pack. (my daily route is about 75km).

    Regards,

    Andras

    Szia Andras.

The backup radar sounds like an interesting modification. I'd like to hear more about that if you get it installed. Can't help much with the PHEV kit though.

    Hi Andras, I think you'll find it's 5.8L/100km rather than 5.8L/km. :)

With a little practice you should do even better, you'll probably get it below 5L/100km once you're fully used to it. Well that's how it worked out for me anyway. :D

Well, i'm will think about that upgrade, cause it needs to drill the rear bumpers, not sure that I want that. I'm hesitating.

I read lot about LED and Halogen headlight comparison, is any replacement for 06 priuses or it's just the factry lamp of '10 prius?

O-o. Sure. 5.8l/100km, edited my post.
Maybe it can be better, but highway with up and downhills not makes it easy :)

There are 06's with HID headlights. If you change to HID you should change to an HID headlight housing also.

the LED headlight is new for 2010. Don't know if it will retrofit into an 06. Don't know if they meet European standards. I'm still waiting to hear if they work well.

Hm, i figured out, that i cant use led bulbs, just if i replace the headlight housing too, cause the leds emits the light different way what needs to be focused differently. So its not a plug in upgrade.

I must tell, I'm a prius addict now..
I have to drive one of my sw developers Opel Zafira 1.9 TDCi and I'm really sick.
    I want my prius back.

Eh, this thread looks like becoming my prius blog :)

    Want to get shocked?

A new '10 prius with premium package ( equals package V in US) costs
9.235.000 HUF which is 51000 USD. And yes, hungary is a poor country, average salary is about 1.000 USD (monthly)... go green

Update: Dension gateway install failed. The mfd updates very slowly, the device randomly dissapears. (By default it acts as a CD changer). Good point to Dension that they have a developer office in Budapest, they was very helpfull. They said, prius has makes a lot of communication on the bus, and the gw 300 model don't has enough cpu capacity to process that information and handle usb drive together. They asked me to lend them my car to check the communication and fix the firmware. the gw 100 unit worked well but it dont has usb port, only aux and ipod interface.

Very good customer handling, rare here in hungary ( and my gw 300 warranty is over).

    Szia Andra's,

Congrats on your Prius. Too bad the HUN government can't put some of the money they used to put into those heavy polluting Ikarus buses into clean technology like the Prius.
I have HID and they are great except the bad batch of bulbs Toyota installed in the 2004 - 09 models. They've been going out, but Toyota has since replaced their source, so make sure you get the better bulbs.

Are you planning to install the PHEV yourself or are you looking for an installer and supplier of the kit? If there is no reps in HUN have you tried one of the neighbouring countries? Perhaps Austria have them?

    Enjoy the Prius,
    Gabe
