My Hybrid battery was serviced recently, how do I know if the battery is new or how healthy it is?

I recently got the P0A80 code and had someone come and service it, luckily it was under warranty but the person just replaced the whole battery. How do I know if it will last or to check the health on the battery and how long I have left with it. 2006 Prius.

Download the Dr. Prius app and run a life expectancy test. A new battery will be around 100% but a used battery will not.

Oh ok, do you have a recommendation on what obd2 device to use? IOS. I heard that dr prius is quite selective when it comes to what obd2 device you can use.

Nag just grab one on Amazon that says it’s compatible with iPhone. Make sure to get the Wi-Fi version. Like $12 on Amazon

I use the Carista one from Amazon. More expensive but it works with my iPhone SE.

In order to use the battery testing function I believe you have to purchase the license which isn’t too costly

welp, battery is at 43-45 percent. do you know if anyone has a Prolong Deluxe Reconditioning Package? wanna get one before any cells die or anything bad happens. Also if anyone knows how much life before red triangle or battery gives at 43-45 percent?

To clarify, someone replaced your failing battery with a reconditioned battery? How long ago was that? How much did this cost?

Recently the replacement started failing, and they replaced it again? You’re just giving up on them at this point?

I bought the car from someone and 4 months later the p0a80 comes up so luckily I had warranty from the previous owner. I used it and he came to my house and replaced my battery with another one. I no longer have warranty because I'm not going to pay $600 for a year worth of warranty. I check the life expectancy of the battery and its 43% so im assuming hes going to replace my battery every time with low health batteries. I find it much better if I get a prolong battery charger so I can have unlimited reconditioning and I know the health of my battery, rather than keep getting it replaced by the warranty when all hes doing is putting some crappy low health battery in my car.

also i contacted him and showed him and hes acting dumb and says he has no knowledge of the dr prius app. Correct me if im wrong but if your a prius hybrid battery expert and service them and also drive a prius then you probably know what the dr prius life expectancy test is

I still have the original modules from my 2013 Prius. It’s at 64% if you need it

The prolong reconditioning would only last a few months if I understand correctly. What you need is a replacement, and soon.

My bad I actually don’t know if you can use 3rd Gen modules in a 2nd Gen.

I still use my Prius but I switched to the lithium battery pack

The battery cases are different between the generations, but the modules are compatible. So, you just need to transplant the Gen 3 modules into your Gen 2 case and it will work fine.
